Abstract

The range of distribution of the megascolecid species in the Canary Archipelago is better defined. The most probable ways of introduction, the kind of habitat and the altitude limits between which they were found are also indicated. The morphologic features of the Canarian specimens differ little from those of other reports. Finally, the genus Pithemera Sims & Easton, 1972 is considered the most controversial. © 1990 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
