Abstract

In a previous study, the authors have shown that the debonding strength can be expressed as a constant value of the intensity of the singular stress field (ISSF). Previously, two models were considered in discussing the ISSF; one is a two-dimensional butt joint under plane strain and the other is a three-dimensional prismatic butt joint having sharp interface corners. In this study, by considering the real 3D geometry, the effect of fillet radius ρ at the specimen corner on the maximum ISSF is addressed. For fillet radius ρ/W ≥ 0.0005 (W = specimen width), the maximum ISSF is almost constant within the relative difference of 2%.
