Abstract

Mortality in a cohort of 110 one-day-c. nauplii was extremely high during the first two weeks of life, with only 57% surviving to weeks three. Life expectancy for a newborn nauplius was 5.4 weeks, while a copepod surviving for two weeks could be expected to live an additional 6.9 weeks. Maximum longevity observed in the cohort was 21.5 weeks. -from Authors
