The Extended Clinic at the University and Health Care Interface

Abstract

This essay intends to approach the work at University and Health Care interface, from a perspective of the extended clinic in Psychoanalysis. It begins with theoretical and methodological considerations about the Extended Clinic and Narcissism to address the specificity of psychoanalytic listening in the institutional context. Trough the presentation of an observation and intervention framework proposal, it addresses the experience of reception and counselling families and mother-baby dyads from the beginning of pregnancy, including critical conditions of hospitalization in the neonatal ICU. It discusses the need to expand psychologist´s work to approach the multidisciplinary staff, considering the group phenomena that cross this type of work. In conclusion, it points out the contribution of psychoanalytical listening about subject´s constitution and desire ethics in a complex logic at Health Psychology.
