Abstract
Novel stable carbanions of the general formula -C(SO2CF3)n(CN)3-n (n = 1,2) were synthesized. The solid-state structure of cesium cyanobis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)methanide was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Phenyldiazonium cyanobis(triluoromethylsulfonyl)-methanide underwent decomposition to yield the oxo-sulfonium ylide - trifluoromethyl(phenoxy)oxosulfonium cyano(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)methanide. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
