Abstract
It is difficult to locate faults in the distribution lines with low automation or non-automation which lack automation devices such as feeder terminals. For this problem, a fault location method for distribution lines based on loss power matching is proposed. First, the corresponding relationship between the trip switch and the power loss of the line is analyzed to put forward the principle of fault location, and the engineering feasibility is expounded. Then, the abnormal power loss of the line is judged and the line loss power is calculated by ultra-short-term load forecasting. Finally, the line loss power value is matched with each switch power value to locate the position of the trip switch caused by the fault and determine the fault section. The analysis results of simulation and engineering examples show that this method can quickly and effectively locate the fault section and reduce the scope of emergency repair. In addition, as the method does not rely on the distribution network automation system, it is especially suitable for low-automated and non-automated distribution lines.
