Abstract
This study describes the assessment of 50-year-old reinforced concrete building based on the latest Indonesia building codes. The case study was the Cipta building located in Merdeka Barat, Jakarta. Field survey and test laboratory were conducted to observe the current condition of building structure. One destructive test and three non-destructive tests were performed to obtain the existing concrete compressive strengths and the number of bar that applied in structure elements. Based on actual material strengths, the 3-dimensional structure analysis were applied to evaluate the nominal strength of reinforced concrete elements. In this assessment, the Cipta building was evaluated based on the requirement for special moment resisting of reinforced concrete frame. The observation result showed that the Cipta building was still safe to resist the gravity load. On the other hand, this building structure did not satisfy the requirement for special resisting frame. This research exhibited that the 50-year-old reinforced concrete building was only designed for gravity load.
