Deoxidation by calcium of liquid iron, Fe-Ni alloys with 3 to 30% Ni, and Fe-Cr alloys with 10 to 30% Cr was studied in a lime crucible in a hf vacuum or high pressure induction furnace. The calcium was added in form of specially prepared Fe-clad rod. CaO-FeO inclusions were formed immediately after Ca addition and separated from the melt with time. At 1600 degree C in 1 atm Ar, the concentration of Ca dissolved in liquid iron was estimated to be 0. 024%. Equilibrium constants are calculated.
