Lehi on the Great Issues: Book of Mormon Theology in Early Nineteenth-Century Perspective

Abstract

The article examines some of the many theological issues addressed in the Book of Mormon and on the early nineteenth-century in the U.S. The book teachings are challenging in contemporary context because it does not present an organized systematic theology, which lead to ambiguity of the interpretation of passages in the scripture. During this period, the book's theology is not consistent in its reproduction. However, when viewed in larger context and as interpreted against the background of the 19th century, appears to contribute in the theological spectrum of the period.
