Abstract

Two new tannins, camelliatannins C (1) and E (2), were isolated from the leaves of Camellia japonica L. (Theaceae). They were found to be complex tannins of a new type, lacking C-C bond between glucose C-l and the aroyl (hexahydroxydiphenoyl) group at glucose 0–2. © 1995, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
