Abstract

Various surgical procedures including jaw fixation are used for the treatment of morbid obesity. Intubation difficulties are now recognised as a major anaesthetic hazard in pregnant patients. This paper describes the failed intubation of an obese pregnant patient in whom previous jaw wiring was considered to be a major contributing factor A satisfactory outcome was achieved using a recommended failed intubation drill.
