Abstract
This feature is designed to point CBE-Life Sciences Education readers to current articles of interest in life sciences education as well as more general and noteworthy publications in education research. URLs are provided for the abstracts or full text of articles. For articles listed as "Abstract available," full text may be accessible at the indicated URL for readers whose institutions subscribe to the corresponding journal. This themed issue focuses on recent studies about various aspects of authentic research activities experienced by undergraduate students and by primary and secondary school teachers. The authors discuss the implications of their findings with respect to the role of mentors, the participants' perceptions about the scientific community of practice, and about the impact of mentored research on persistence and academic achievement in science. © 2012 D.
