Abstract
The purposed of this study are: (a) to knowing effectiveness of PAKEM learning model to the mathematical problem solving ability students seventh grade of SMPN 11 Batam; (b). to knowing effectiveness of conventional learning models to mathematical problem solving ability students seventh grade of SMPN 11 Batam; (c) to determine differences in the effectiveness of PAKEM learning model with conventional learning models to mathematical problem solving ability students seventh grade of SMPN 11 Batam. This type of research is quasi experiment with samples for the experimental class is VIII.3 and control class is VIII.5. Variable in observational be noticed for: (a). independent variablewhich is model PAKEM and conventional learning;(b). dependent variablewhich is mathematical problem solving ability student. Mathematical problem solving ability data student is gotten from instrument as essays test of problem-solving ability. Analysis of the test using the test one sample t-test for hypothesis 1 and 2 while independent t-test for the hypothesis 3.Result from analisis data, a). ttitung > ttable (6,490> 2,039), therefore ha1 accepted, so gets to be concluded that PAKEM’S model effective being sighted from student trouble-shooting ability brazes VIII SMP n 11 Batam. b). tcomputing < ttable (−0,536< 2,039), therefore ho2 accepted, so gets to be concluded that conventional model is not effective be sighted from student trouble-shooting ability brazes VIII SMP n 11 Batam. c). tcomputing = 4,272> ttable = 1,998 therefore ha3: accepted, so gets to be concluded that PAKEMmodel better instead of model conventional learning.
