Abstract

Two cases of acute liver necrosis with fatal outcome are described. Both followed the ingestion of large numbers of paracetamol tablets. Evidence is given suggesting that paracetamol was the chief cause of the necrosis. The presence of profound hypoglycaemia was noted in both patients, overshadowing, and in one instance preceding, other evidence of liver upset. © 1966, British Medical Journal Publishing Group.
