Crisis y continuidad en una relación

Abstract

El estudio plantea cómo la vieja alianza corporativa entre la Iglesia y el Estado, que había caracterizado al Perú republicano, entró en crisis en la década de 1970. Describe diversos enfrentamientos que se produjeron entre la jerarquía eclesiástica y el gobierno militar, entre 1968 y la separación de la Iglesia y el Estado en 1980, en contraposición con sus cordiales relaciones en otros aspectos, y analiza las causas de los hechos. El estudio puede servir para entender los cambios a largo plazo en las relaciones entre ambas instituciones en el Perú, el impacto de los nuevos enfoques pastorales de la Iglesia, así como las transformaciones sociopolíticas ocurridas.This study explores how the longstanding corporate alliance between the Church and the State, which had characterized republican Peru, entered into crisis in the 1970s. It describes various confrontations between the ecclesiastical hierarchy and the military government from 1968 until the separation of Church and State in 1980, contrasting these with their cordial relations in other aspects, and analyzes the causes of these events. The study provides insight into the long-term changes in the relationship between these two institutions in Peru, the impact of the Church’s new pastoral approaches, and the sociopolitical transformations that occurred.
