Review of coaxial coil electromagnetic propulsion technology

Abstract

In order to provide reference and guidancefor developing coaxial coil electromagnetic propulsion (CCEMP) technology, we summarizedthe current status and focuses of CCEMP along with reviewing the history and main achievements of CCEMP and forecasting the prospect of CCEMP applications. The unique properties, key technologies and bottlenecks of CCEMP are analyzed. It is concluded that CCEMP propulsion devices that have heavy load capacity, high efficiency and long repetition life, is one of the essential choiceson battlefield in the future. However,the application of CCEMP requires needs high density and miniaturizedenergy storage resources and high strength materials as the prerequisite, of which the possible solutions and plans for are proposed.
