Abstract
In this paper additional phase equilibria on the join CaMgSi//2O//6-CO//2-H//2O are presented, and both the new and the previous data on this join (Eggler, 1973; rosenaauer and Eggler, 1975) are analyzed. Particular attention has been paid to applications to the derivation, movement, and crystallization of volatile-bearing basaltic magmas. Indeed, diopside was chosen as a composition for these studies because it is neither oversaturated nor undersaturated in silica. Diopside liquids are thus broadly similar to basalt liquids.
