Abstract

In this paper, an experimental study on the welding defect detection method based on thermal imaging is carried out. First, the laboratory manufacturing method of typical welding defects: porosity and slag inclusion is introduced, and the construction of the test environment and the test process are described. Then a defect detection algorithm flow is proposed based on the thermal image of welding defects. The statistical results show that the thermal imaging detection method has good detection ability for closed porosity defects and slag inclusion defects. The combination of thermal imaging sensors and industrial robots can realize automatic detection of typical welding defects.
