Methods of synthesis of cyclobutenediones

Abstract

Cyclobutenediones have been used as versatile starting materials for the synthesis of a wide range of multifunctional molecules. There have been continued efforts to develop general and practical methods to access the cyclobutenediones, which led to the discovery of several new methodologies over the last two decades. A review of various methods of synthesis of cyclobutenediones is presented. © ARKAT.
