Abstract

Stress in employment is one of the issues that are often raised through the media and become a discussion in society. Concern for this issue is important to avoid a more serious impact. The phenomenon of stress was also found among teachers who educate children in school. The stress that occurs is unavoidable but the wisdom of the approach is important in dealing with it. This article aims to present the approach practiced by National Secondary School teachers to deal with the stress they face. This study is a qualitative study using a case study design. The method of data collection of the study was through semi -structured interviews involving a total of 1 counseling teacher and 3 teachers in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan. The selection of informants was made through purposive sampling method. The study data were analyzed descriptively after completing the transcript, the process of forming the theme and coding the data were compiled in detail. The results of the study found that the two main approaches practiced by teachers in dealing with stress are the spiritual approach through the process of self-reflection, positive thinking, prayer, prayer and trust in Allah SWT and the approach of physical activity that is doing activities liked and spending time with family. ABSTRAK Tekanan dalam pekerjaan merupakan antara isu yang sering dikemukakan menerusi media dan menjadi perbincangan dalam masyarakat. Keprihatinan terhadap isu ini penting bagi menghindari impak yang lebih serius berlaku. Fenomena tekanan didapati turut dihadapi dalam kalangan guru yang mendidik anak-anak di sekolah. Tekanan yang berlaku sukar dielakkan namun keupayaan diri dan kebijaksanaan pendekatan penting dalam menanganinya. Artikel ini bertujuan mengemukakan pendekatan yang dipraktikkan oleh guru Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan bagi menangani tekanan yang dihadapi. Kajian ini adalah kajian kualitatif yang menggunakan reka bentuk kajian kes. Kaedah pengumpulan data kajian ialah melalui temubual separa struktur yang melibatkan seramai 1 orang guru kaunseling dan 3 guru di Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan. Pemilihan informen dibuat melalui kaedah persampelan bertujuan. Data kajian dianalisis secara deskriptif setelah melengkapkan transkipsi, proses membentuk tema dan pengkodan data yang disusun secara terperinci. Hasil kajian mendapati dua pendekatan utama yang dipraktikkan oleh guru dalam menangani tekanan yang dihadapi iaitu pendekatan spiritual iaitu menerusi proses muhasabah diri, fikir positif, sembahyang, doa serta tawakkal kepada Allah SWT dan pendekatan aktiviti fizikal iaitu melakukan aktiviti-aktiviti disukai dan meluangkan masa bersama keluarga.
