Abstract

A review with refs. The polyamorphism problem in amorphous C (a-C) samples is discussed and the topol. transition from graphite-like to diamond-like C (GLC .tautm. DLC) is described. The thermodn. stability of the GLC and DLC phase is discussed and results of classical empiric potential simulations (CEPS) are presented. Based on these calcns., the phase diagram of a-C was constructed. [on SciFinder (R)]
