Abstract

The aim of this paper is to analyze the way in which the male population has been considered in public health policies and programs related to reproductive behavior of the population in Mexico. It assumes a context in which women have been identified as the protagonists and reference subjects on whom interventions are built in the field of reproductive behavior. The text includes a review of some programs and public policies in Mexico, then present some methodological proposal considering gender as a relational concept. The interest is epistemological, so there is an interest in reflecting on assumptions behind the logic of government interventions in the field of reproduction and then building on some methodological proposals that allow a relational interpretation of women and men as gender subjects, who potentially can reproduce themselves within heterosexual or homosexual couples.
