Abstract

The determination of serum concentrations of the digitalis glycosides in a pharmacokinetic and clinical context is important in determining the individual dosage for patients. Various intrinsic and extrinsic factors can influence the serum levels and the effects of this class of drugs and need to be taken into account in the therapeutic monitoring. It is therefore essential to have a rational approach both at the level of decision making, as well as for the dosing and blood sampling regimes.
