Abstract

The analytic analysis of delta-type interior permanent synchronous machines is difficult due to the absence of a useful analytic method, especially considering the high magnetic saturation effect of the machine. Hence, the nonlinear magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) method, which considers the severe magnetic saturation of the iron core, is proposed in this paper. With the proposed nonlinear MEC method, the characteristics of the delta-type interior permanent magnet synchronous generator (IPMSG) are precisely calculated and the computational burden is remarkably reduced. The proposed MEC method is validated by comparing the calculated data with the experimental results.
