Abstract
Here we discuss hyperphagic eating disorders from a phenomenological and anthropological perspective. The examination of these disorders should first determine if they are truly different from anxiety and depressive disorders. If there are undeniably addictive elements in these disorders, should they be kept in this category? Can anything in these eating disorders be described as "non-addictive"? These are the central questions of this article. © 2009 Associação Universitária de Pesquisa em Psicopatologia Fundamental/University Association for Research in Fundamental Psychopathology.
