Abstract

Although a set of competitive learning models have been proposed to benefit students' learning, they are limited in some aspects. Thus, there is a need to investigate other models. In this paper, we propose a self-competition model, in which students use avatars to represent their learning status. In addition, the current statuses of their avatars are further compared with the past statuses of their avatars. Through the self-competition model, students might be benefited. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
