Abstract

An exploratory and mixed descriptive study is performed in the context of teacher training in Chile, with the basic purpose of characterizing the profile of creative-innovative university lecturers and identifying their training needs. This study specifically addressed these needs through a methodology from an evaluative research logic, starting from the concept of felt needs, while also considering normative-prescriptive ones. The sample is made up of 190 university lecturers from two central regions of Chile. The needs analysis indicates that most training requirements are oriented towards the pedagogical dimension as opposed to the disciplinary one. It is concluded that, in each dimension analyzed, there is a critical node that can act as a basis for the future planning and design of training processes (professional reflection and training planning). In addition, both categories are fundamental for the development of creative-innovative competence in terms of both teaching work and practice.
