Abstract
The role played by the Kaufmann family as patron of the arts on the North American cultural scene is made invisible in the role of two of the most important modern houses of the 20th century, Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Cascade House”, and the “Kaufmann House”, by Richard Neutra. This article reveals the criteria and objective needs of the clients during the commissioning, construction and domestic appropriation of the houses, where, beyond financial financing, they actively interacted with the authors of these iconic pieces, adopting and promulgating new forms of life, modern and revolutionary for the time.
