The E-Revolution in Higher Education: E-Learning and E-Leaders

Abstract

Technology is transforming higher education. In order to take full advantage of these changes, capable leaders who create a shared vision of the future, harness e-technologies for learning, and support 21st-century learning outcomes are more critical now than ever. To address this need, e-leadership is emerging as a popular topic in higher education. Individuals who employ technology to enable transformative learning, are called e-leaders. The growth of e-learning has been influenced by various factors, including costs, availability of a variety of instructional technologies, and the innate technological skills of the modern learner. The prevalence of e-learning leads to unique challenges, including dealing with various stakeholders, providing an effective product to learners, and establishing new paradigms on how to provide educational components. The current paper discusses the crucial elements to consider for effective e-leadership in higher education institutions.
