Abstract

This paper presents the simulation and thermodynamic analysis of an absorption cooling advanced system of the type air-cooled GAX. The study of the system is focused on the thermal conditioning of residential spaces located in regions with extreme hot weather. The mathematical model of the system is solved using a computational algorithm called backtracking. A simulator was developed to evaluate the operational behavior of the system, under different environmental conditions. It was found that the ambient temperature has an important influence on the operating behavior of the system, since efficiency decreased by 20.4% when the temperature changed from 40 to 50° C. It is concluded that the GAX cooling system operated in hot extreme weather is a good alternative option for the thermal conditioning of spaces since it maintains a high performance coefficient compared to conventional systems.
