Abstract
The addition of a sonic extract of Capnocytophaga sputigena to the culture fluid of human fibroblasts resulted in an inhibition of cell proliferation. The inhibition was dose-related (200 μg/ml caused a 90% inhibition, and 1,000 μg/ml caused a complete cessation of growth). The growth inhibition was not due to alterations in culture medium, pH or ionic strength, or to the effects of the C. sputigena lipopolysaccharide.
