Abstract

The far-infrared spectrum of crystalline CF4 shows a discontinuity at the transition between Phases I and II; the spectrum of the low-temperature Phase II shows three lattice modes. Published x-ray diffraction data for Phase II have been reinterpreted in terms of a unit cell with space group C 2/c, 4 molecules per cell, to give a crystal structure consistent with the observed spectrum.
