Abstract
The State of Acre in the Brazilian Amazon is the locus where intense fights were carried out to guarantee the life of forest peoples. These populations have their own culture and a deep knowledge of the environment in which they live, against the dominant paradigm of a hegemonic and excluding society. Indigenous peoples, rubber extractors and riverine population, organized and mobilized by a life or death cause, have much to teach society, providing wide repercussions in the ways of thinking and acting. Knowing the history of the people and their rich environment, it is possible to think an agenda to be developed in Acre. Some very interesting initiatives have been developed in the state for a harmonious conviviality between people and nature, through the valorization of knowledge and life trajectories. It is a perspective to involve people to be subjects of their own learning process, within the emancipation and empowerment for a relationship between peoples and the environment.
