Abstract
Attempting to improve the educational system and student success in basic education is a topic which has been broadly covered in educational research. However, the role of educational inspection has been hardly discussed. So, it is necessary to analyze the contribution of the inspection as guarantor of the quality and equity of the educational system. This essay intends to build and validate a scale in order to know and analyze the Andalusian educational inspectors’ opinion in regard to the action taken to improve results in school achievement. For this purpose, a scale of twenty-seven items was designed and applied to one hundred and eighteen members of the eight local inspection services which exist in the autonomous region. Content validation was carried out by resorting to the assessment of experts and construct validation yields item grouping around four dimensions. Reliability was verified by means of Cronbach alpha (.890). After data analysis, it stood out that the scale provides an answer to the need of having a valid and reliable tool available so that insight can be gained over the perception of the members of the Service of Inspection on the work which they do as focused on educational achievement of all the students in compulsory education.
