Abstract
The grain-size distribution of sediments in the Ajuruteua macrotidal beach is infuenced by processes related to fuvial discharge, wave and tide actions and winds. Theses processes are responsible for grain-size changes in different time scales, which range from minutes, hours, days, months and years. This paper aims at studying the seasonal changes in the grain-size parameters (median, mean, standard deviation, kurtosis and skewness) and their morphologic distribution over the intertidal zone in the Ajuruteua macrotidal beach (Bragança/PA). The seasonal changes in the coastal processes control the beach morphology and the seasonal distribution of the sediments. The analysis of sediment distribution supported by digital elevation model was important to understand the seasonal sedimentary dynamics of macrotidal beaches.
