Abstract
About 100 new lines are observed in a spectrum of doubly ionized yttrium in the range 600 to 9700 A by means of plane- and concave-grating spectrographs. Forty new energy levels are derived. The ionization energy of Y III was found to be 165 540. 5 plus or minus 1. 0 cm** minus **1.
