Abstract
The decline in economic activity is felt by employers, employees and entrepreneurs. One of them is a garment factory in the Bantul area which went bankrupt so that many factory employees were unilaterally laid off. Community service programs are provided to move the economic wheels of the community, especially for women. Seeing this condition, we were moved to train some of these garment employees to keep working to produce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as medical covers and gowns both from spunbond, waterproof parachute, taslan, and microphorus. At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for PPE with the amount of production was not balanced. So that PPE orders are very large, demand from Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and even to Papua. This activity is able to produce 5000 gowns and covers in 1 month. Our group consists of 10 tailors with addresses in Randubelang, Semail and Bangunjiwo Bantul. This community service is carried out by training methods for making PPE, division of labor and building market networks. The training process includes how to make PPE designs, how to properly sew according to requirements as personal protective equipment, effective and inexpensive packaging processes and package delivery. The result felt by tailors was that they had more financial income than when they worked in factories. There is a lot of time to take care of the family because production is carried out in their own homes, and the chance of contracting the COVID-19 virus is smaller.
