Self-Organisation Network (SON) Dengan Mekanisme Load Balancing

Abstract

Abstrak Load Balancing adalah salah satu mekanisme yang digunakan pada self-organisation network (SON) untuk melakukan keseimbangan load traffic pada base station (BS) yang kelebihan beban dengan BS yang berdekatan dan low-loaded. Load balancing dilakukan melalui pengaturan parameter (metric) handover untuk mendapatkan keseimbangan trafik jaringan yang optimal. Pada artikel ini parameter yang diatur adalah kapasitas sel, yang sangat dipengaruhi oleh bandwidth, tipe modulasi, dan access rate yang digunakan user. Semakin besar bandwidth, kapasitas sel akan semakin besar. Semakin tinggi spesifikasi tipe modulasi yang digunakan, kapasitas sel juga akan semakin besar. Dilain pihak, semakin besar bit rate yang digunakan user, maka kapasitas sel akan semakin kecil. Analisa hasil perhitungan kapasitas sel ini menjadi dasar operasional prosedur load balancing. Sebuah algoritma proses load balancing dirancang untuk menjelaskan prosedur tersebut, Algoritma ini juga memperhitungkan analisis efek pingpong yang mungkin terjadi akibat keterlambatan proses handover. Abstract Load Balancing is one of the mechanisms used in the self-organization network (SON) to balance the traffic at the overloaded base station with the adjacent low-loaded base station. Load balancing is done by adjusting the handover parameters (metric) to obtain the optimal traffic balance. In this work, the adjusted parameter is the capacity of the cell. Cell capacity is strongly influenced by the bandwidth, modulation type, and the bit rate used by user. The greater the bandwidth the greater the capacity of the cell. The larger type of modulation used, the cell capacity will also be greater. On the other hand, the greater bit rate used by user, then the cell capacity will decrease. The calculation analysis of cell capacity is taken as the basic operation for load balancing procedure. A load balancing process algorithm is introduced to describe the mentioned procedure. The algorithm also considers the ping-pong effect that might occur due to delay on handover process.
