Notes on the Contributions of Critical Theory to Public Policy Analysis

Abstract

In the 90s, in the domain of public policy studies, there was a change called the argumentative turn originated, in part, in critical theory. Since then, discourses, narratives, values, culture, meanings, learnings, and actor’s subjectivities have become relevant in response to the dominant traditional or postpositivist approach. This article describes some of these contributions and their evolution.
