Abstract

PHLIQA1 is an experimental system for answering isolated English questions about a restricted subjectdomain. It was developed at Philips Research Laboratories in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, by a team consisting of W. J. Bronnenberg, H. C. Bunt, S. P. J. Landsbergen, P. Medema, R. J. H. Scha, W. J. Schoenmakers and E. P. C. van Utteren. The system was designed during the period 1972-1975, and implemented in 1975. It runs under the MDS time sharing system on a Philips P1400 computer. Some details of the 1975 version have been improved in the currently running system.
