Abstract

Plugiochila sublyallii sp. nov. from Papua New Guinea is described and illustrated. Eleven species names are newly placed in synonymy. Plagiochilu paschulis Steph. is conspecific with P. biciliutu Steph. Plugiochilu choristophyllu Dugas, P. dogniensis Steph., P. levis Steph., P. purisii Steph., P. sunguinea Steph., and P. taeteru Steph. are treated as conspecific with P. cristophyllu Steph. Plugiochila sinclairii Mitt., Plugiochilu litoralis Steph., P. reischeckiunu Steph., and P. traversii Steph. are conspecific with P, intertextu Hook.f. & Taylor. Plugiochilu biciliuta and P. cristophyllu are described and illustrated. Lectotypes are designated for P. cristophylla, P. purisii, and P. sanguineu. © 2001 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
