Abstract
Two patients developed herpetic encephalitis after cardiopulmonary bypass for two different surgical indications. Diagnosis was extremely difficult. Both patients recovered under antiviral treatment despite late diagnosis. © 2013 BMJ Publishing Group. All rights reserved.
