Abstract

One of the most important interactions in Nature, that is, hydrogen bonding, can be utilized for regulating nucleophilic fluorination using two readily available nucleophilic fluorine sources: hydrogen fluoride and alkali metal fluorides. The former comprises HF/DMPU, in which the strong hydrogen bonding acceptor DMPU fine-tunes the nucleophilicity of HF. Within the latter category, the non-controllable nucleophilicity and strong basicity of alkali-metal fluorides can be fine-tuned through hydrogen bonding interactions using various strategies.
