3D printing in aerospace industry - Its long term sustainability and challenges

Abstract

3D printing or additive manufacturing industry has been booming and expanding and has taken its roots in many a industries. One of them is aerospace industry. In this paper we have taken a look at need of additive manufacturing in sustainability, seeing how 3D printing is helping us in achieving new age goals of sustainability. Further we have explored the need of additive manufacturing in aerospace industry, and tried to see how additive manufacturing has made inroads into aerospace industry and its need in this sector. Furthermore we have taken an insight into the challenges faced by use of additive manufacturing in aerospace industry. Finally we have pondered over the different possibilities of usage of additive manufacturing in the aerospace industry in the future.
