Abstract

To develop a bearing material, graphite particles were dispersed in 7079 alloy. The speed of stirring, temperature of the melt and preheating temperature of graphite were optimized to facilitate incorporation of graphite in the melt and its solidification. An improvement in wear in contact with mild steel was observed.
