Abstract

A proposal for the crystal structure of phenol (CA 54, 14863g) is corrected and refined with 3-dimensional data. The structure has monoclinic symmetry of space group P21, which differs only little from orthorhombic symmetry of space group P21221. For the detn. of the monoclinic features a new method of refinement was used, which allows the use of the known configuration of the phenol mols. [on SciFinder(R)]
