Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the influence of the implementation of 5S Lean Manufacturing Methodology to enhance the handling of materials in a logistics operator company. For this purpose, Ishikawa diagram, Pareto chart and a survey were used to make the correct diagnosis; identifying the main factors by which these defective materials are produced and also, identify the main problem of the study. Subsequently, after having made the diagnosis and having identified the main problem that was the lack of order and cleanliness, the improvements were applied using tools such as the Operation Analysis Chart (DAP) and the 5S technique, in the goods receipt and shipping process in the warehouse. Obtaining as a result, the decrease in time in the procedure for goods receipt from 15 minutes 15 seconds to 13 minutes 25 seconds, (reduction of 36.31% to 32.30%) and finally, it was possible to reduce the times in the goods shipping process from 13 minutes 27 seconds to 12 minutes 32 seconds (reduction of 62.28% to 58.03%).
