Abstract

This essay both explores and rationalises the role of the avant-garde in visceral design and Human-Computer Interaction by comparing the Digital and Industrial Revolutions and situating the role of ‘counter-culture’ practitioners as early expressers of both new cultural paradigms and new social ontologies.
