Abstract

The world population is aging, especially in Asia and Europe. Rapid aging poses seriously threats and challenges to elder care service. With the development of economy, seniors are visioning quality life expectation. Sojourning, which means staying in a place outside of one’s inhabitant home for some period of time, is getting popular with the growth of seniors’ income and education level, the number of senior sojourners are expected to increase in a significant speed in the near future. The paper conducted a detailed analysis and carding on smart care system, from both literature and market perspectives. The paper surveyed the requirements and difficulties standing on the way of quality senior sojourners, and proposed a framework design on the basis of Microsoft IoT platform, to set a smart care system. The purpose is to physically and mentally support those old people living out dependently, if the design is accepted by all sides, it would be a win-win business for senior sojourners, their guardians/children and relatives, IT enterprises and even the local governments.
