AN ANALYSIS OF SLANG WORDS USED BY NETIZENS COMMENTS ON DPIDAMU’S INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT (AN INSTAGRAM OF INDONESIAN PAGEANTS FANPAGE)

Abstract

The objective of this paper is to find the types and the meaning of slang words used by netizens comments on DPIDAMU’s Instagram Account. This research used Elissa Mattiello’s theories about the types of slang words. This study is descriptive qualitative research. The data were taken from netizen comments of photos that have been uploaded by DPIDAMU from August until December 2021 where the researcher found nine types of slang that have been found from fifteen types of Elissa Mattiello’s slangs. They are acronym, blending, clipping, compounding, prefixation, reduplicative, reserved form, variation, and word manufacture, and fanciful formation.
